Curriculum Night

Jack climbs the beanstalk, but the giant turns out to be a healthy eater!  Together they prepare a meal that includes all the food groups.  The students enjoyed this twist in the story and the big beautiful color illustrations.

This year's whole school Curriculum Night is April 2nd.  The theme is American Treasures and Kindergarten has chosen the specific theme of America's Breadbasket.  Topics will cover farming, wheat and bread production, and plant life cycles.  To set the foundation for some of these topics, this week we will be taking a look at good nutrition and the basic food groups.

Each morning we share what we have done to keep ourselves healthy since the previous afternoon.  We have included healthy eating, exercise, brushing our teeth, getting plenty of rest, and visiting the doctor or dentist.  In Physical Education we are building jump roping skills.

Next week we will be making a model to help us visualize where in the world we are (planet, continent, country, state, city, home.)
