Coming Home Soon: Guided Reading Books

Beginning February 24, students will choose 3 of their guided reading books to bring home to read with you each week.  The students are very excited to show off their new skills.  Here are some important things to remember:

• Books will come home on Monday or Tuesday and should be back by Friday so that we can review them all and switch out for the following week
• These are books  the students have read at least twice before
• Please read the books with your child several times during the week.
• If your child seems to be memorizing the words, make a game of pointing to only one word on each page and having your child read the isolated word
• Use the last page of the book to inspire further discussion
• Ask your child questions in which the answer only comes from the picture or text
• Have fun building skill and confidence
• Please handle books with the greatest of care - we are trying to build a library of these leveled readers
